One of the world’s largest community artworks, hand crafted by 1,000 storytellers from across Scotland, its 160 panels tell Scotland’s story, from 420 million years BC to the present day, including the opening of the Scottish Parliament and the Coronation of King Charles III.
Housed in an award-winning cultural centre in the heart of the Scottish Borders, The Tapestry is more than a visitor attraction. It is a place of connection and reflection, and a living celebration of Scotland’s communities, creativity and heritage.
Our 300 Words Story Writing Competition returns for its third year, and for the first time, it’s open to young writers from all across Scotland.
We are delighted to host a range of diverse kids creative workshops. From Bookbug sessions, block printmaking, collage, clay making, and even filmmaking!
Coming December 2026, A Breath of Colour is an exhibition of woven wall hangings by textile artist Eta Ingham Lawrie, created on upright tapestry looms.
