300 Words: The Finalists

300 Words: The Finalists

The Unlikely Viking Heros of Scotland

By Lillie Florence Drynan, age 8

VIKINGS WERE IN SCOTLAND! They were EVERYWHERE! They were angry Vikings. They were angry because they wanted Scotland to be a good place for people to live so fought against their enemies. Their big ships looked like scary dragons breathing hot fire.

There was a small Viking with purple hair called Samia and a taller one with blonde hair called Evelyn. They were girl Vikings undercover. Girl Vikings were not allowed but they wanted to prove that girls were strong and just as good as boy Vikings. Samia and Evelyn were twins. They wore helmets to hide their hair and dressed in armour to make themselves bigger. They even had apples in their sleeves to make it look like they had BIG muscles!

One day, two scary dragon ships crashed in Scotland at Dumbarton Rock and the twins fought in their first battle. They behaved like true Vikings. They were brave and bold. They used spears, bows and arrows, and swords to frighten off their enemies. They WON! All the Vikings cheered and they lifted Samia and Evelyn up in celebration. The twins didn’t like lying, so they showed them their true identities. The boy Vikings were shocked but impressed. They all wanted to marry the twins but the girls said, ‘NO WAY!!’

Instead, they all became good friends and the twins continued to be the best girl Vikings in Scotland. They didn’t need the apples anymore, so, they ate them!

THE END!!
