This monumental work of art narrates Scotland’s narrative from ancient epochs, such as the end of the ice age and early Viking invasions, through significant historical events like the Battle of Bannockburn, the Act of Union in 1707, and modern milestones like the discovery of North Sea oil and Andy Murray’s Wimbledon victory in 2013. Each panel, taking around 500 hours to sew, represents a labour of love and dedication, showcasing Scotland’s rich tapestry of history, literature, science, sport and more.

This is one of the world’s largest, most ambitious, community art projects where 1000 volunteers from across the country, created 143 meters of hand stitched, wool thread embroidery. The Story of Scotland, told by the people of Scotland.
