Song of the Seas By Ellie Hall

Song of the Seas By Ellie Hall

The Song of the seas As the sun slowly rose, like a ball of gleaming light being lit, waking life from its slumber. Where comes life, so does death… As the seas thrash and crash , deep under water creatures of legends and myths live. The boat cut through the water. An apex predator of the seas. The burly captain boomed orders to the bleary eyed workers. Slowly they heaved their h The ell like weapons into place. As the boat lunged deeper into the salty slashing seas they approached their target. Deep under water the whales elegantly swam like ballerinas on a performing stage as graceful as a swan despite their hundred ton weight! Suddenly the boat surged forward causing the whales to startle! A calf and Mum were separated from each other. Despite the chaos the fishermen had caused they took no notice. As if in slow motion a net lunged into the water catching the panicked calf. Suddenly something magical happened. The whales began to sing…Quietly at first. Then louder. It made the fishermen want to cry with joy but also weep with sadness. Heart pounding and heart breaking at the same time it made the fishermen’s heart ache but yet it was the most magical, beautiful and happiest moment of their lives. Their shouts, cries and cheers all said the same “save the whale” The net was released and the calf was freed. As for the fishermen they travelled back through the seas to their homeland. Scotland. The tail spread of the whales all over the country from the highlands to the lowlands for many years into the future and now there is a story of the whales not a book but a tapestry but now it is myth and legend. But the whales still continue to sing…
