Music of the Water By Zoe Brown

Music of the Water By Zoe Brown

Every morning Crystal comes out of her cave and onto the beach dancing to the water’s music. Crystal loved the sound the sea made as it washed on the sand and crashed into the rocks. It always made her feel at home. One day she was so distracted by her dancing it made her lose track of where she was. She decided to go on for a bit until a small cave came into view. It filled her with excitement. Hoping it was hers she went down only to see that it was empty. Later that day, I was exploring on the beach just down the road from my cousin’s croft. Listening to the waves I heard a strange sound coming from somewhere nearby. I wandered along trying to find where the sound was coming from. Then I noticed a hole in the cliff, so I decided to walk over to it and see what was there. I couldn’t see anything at first, but then I started seeing bits of what looked like a long blue tail. I got a shiver up my spine wondering what it was. Suddenly two bright crystal-blue eyes were staring right at me. Then I realised what was making the sound, it was a dragon crying while all curled up in the cave. I laid my hand gently on the tail of the dragon to show her I was a friend. We sat together in the quiet and listened to the water’s music. She stopped crying and sat up next to me, so I stayed with her until her parents came back. I could tell that they were worried and had been looking for her. They were all so happy to be back together again, so I left and went back onto the beach.
